Not sure I had a specific favourite, just liked all of the old shit holes better than the purpose ones of today.

All had their own great history's and nothing better than a packed away end on the terraces when gaining a decent result.

Ilford's ground in Lynn Road held some games in the 1948 Olympics

Not a lot of people know that

Went to Ninian Park a few times.

I remember my dad and I stood there and actually couldn’t see the pitch are there was so much policy in front of us. Was the 1st season the Div 1 as known then. Some old school West Ham boys there.
I did like the Del as so close to the pitch

Råsunda and Ninian Park. Both were proper football grounds.

Brilliant stuff ted, that was in the days when the Amateur Cup was big deal, almost as big as the FA Cup final

Oxford United's Manor Ground. It was one of the very few league grounds where you could walk right round the ground.

Where Pringle made his Hammers debut :-)

... but let's face it, anyone who stood on the North Bank knows that it's been shit ever since the seats went in. Those days are gone, just feel a little sorry for the younger crowd who never got to experience it.

Talking of Wembley

My dad took me to this the season before my first game at Upton Park.

I think many will. Even the modern atmosphere is a lot better than most other grounds these days. There will be large away allocations all season , I reckon, where more fans than normal will be after a ticket.

So in say 5 years tiem will other clubs fans all be saying Upton Park?.... loads of guys at work actually have more tinted glass views of our place than we do .... their view of UP is one of 20-30 years ago.

As others have said, The Baseball Ground. Went several times, including Derby v Forest back in the day, cracking day out. Proper old style English ground. Pride fucking Park, eh? Careful what you wish for...

Re: Favourite grounds that no longer exist....
Yeah, I'll also put a shout out for the old Wembley.

Never got to see West Ham, alas, but I remember being there for the Football League v Rest of the World; Maradonna's first match in England after the hand of SOD.

Also England v Turkey when we won 8-0. All I really remember of that was rocking up with a West Ham Union Flag and hearing an ironic cheer behind us. Turned round to see a load of geezers with a Barnsley flag.....this was 8 days after being tonked by them 5-2 at home in the LC. All good natured, though.

The last one I remember was England v Holland 2-2. What a day that was. Every mob in England turned out, as the Dutch were starting to have a reputation, but none of them showed, just orange families. So natirally every mob in England turned on each other instead, all over the west end. I remember Millwall and Chelsea going at each other, and Derby fighting seemingly everyone they bumped into. Not the first or last time I've heard of Derby kicking off with other England fans.

Don't usually equate Wembley with aggro, though. The England team were pretty bloody good back then. Really underachieved in West Germany 88.
